The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the 28th Annual Holiday Light Parade on Saturday December 2, 2017. The parade begins at 6:00 PM. Line-up will begin at 4:30 PM at the UMPI campus. The Chamber will uphold tradition and have the only Santa Claus on their float. Please note; any extra Santa's or candy throwing will disqualify your entry. Candy may be given out by walkers only. Catagories for judging include: Parade Champion, Best Business, Best Non-Profit, Best Faith Based, Best General Float. Please display a sign that clearly and boldly states the name of your business, organization or club on the LEFT SIDE OF YOUR FLOAT Judging will take place as you pass the Reviewing Stand on Main Street. Trophies will be presented at the finish of the parade in the North Street Health Center. We are looking for participants to add music to their floats for more festive fun. We also ask that participants turn off their headlights during the parade please. It is not necessary to have your entry completely planned before registering with the Chamber. Just inform us of your decision to enter so we may compile the Line-up. Everyone is invited to participate as a part of this Living Nativity (including children). Bring a costume (ie shepherd, wiseman, Mary etc) or we will try to put one together at the church. Feel free to bring along a musical instrument or just your voice, as we will be singing traditional Christmas carols and hymns. Printed sheets of carols/hymns will be provided. Inside of the church we will have hot chocolate and popcorn so people can go in and warm-up. If you can't be a part of the Living Nativity Scene, just come observe and or lend your voice to this special time of year - help us celebrate the true reason for the Christmas season. Members of the Presque Isle Congregational Church will also hold another living nativity scene prior to our Christmas Eve Service from 5:30 - 6:30pm Christmas Eve service starts at 7pm and all are welcome! The program includes A Cappella Club, String Ensemble, Chorus, Concert Band, Dance Club and Jazz Combo. The program will include be a mixture of popular music and, in the spirit of the season, songs and music for the Holidays. Music will be as diverse as “The Raiders March” by John Williams to “Carol of the Bells” by Mykola Leontovych.
The 1875 Vera Estey House Museum, 16 Third Street, Presque Isle
Join Presque Isle Historical Society for a self-guided tour of this small, two-story Victorian era house. Each room is adorned with hand-made Victorian era inspired decorations and florals. A costumed interpreter will be in each room performing a task from the era. In addition, there will be a scavenger hunt based on "The Twelve Days of Christmas" with one decoration in each of the 12 rooms from the traditional holiday song. Tickets $10 at the door ($5.00 for children 10 and under). Park in the public lot across from City Hall and be shuttled around the corner in the heated Molly the Trolley. A wonderful new holiday tradition!!

Come join The Aroostook Paranormal Investigation Society for a special event for children ages 3 and up coordinated with Santa and the elves at the North Pole. 24 lucky children (first sign first take basis) will get to do some of the activities and games the elves partake in at their Academy in the North Pole, including crafts and refreshments. Diplomas signed by Santa are awarded to each child upon completion of their projects. Plus children will be able to write letters to Santa and put them in a special mailbox so he will get them in plenty of time before Christmas Eve. There will be a special sack at this event for parents and children to put new gifts in to go to the Toys for Tots program too! Cost for this event is $3.00 per child (paid at the door the day of the event) and RSVP is encouraged. the Elf Pal academy is back this year with sessions for the young and older believers in Santa and his elves. the youngest will hear original stories read by the author, make North Pole Mix,write a letter to Santa, do activities and games, along with a craft. The next session of youngsters will have a Jan Brett story read by Elf Coordinator KC along with making graham cracker houses,writing a letter to Santa, doing Elf Pal Academy activities and games (straight from the Elf School at the North Pole!)and a special craft. Our last session will have a special story, write out their wish lists, decorate Elf themed cupcakes, play games and Elf pal Academy activities, and make some crafts. All students will receive a diploma signed by Santa and KC , a Santa's Helper badge, and a small gift . Registration for each session is limited to 24 students, and there is a $3.00 fee per child for each session.
