Northern Maine Medical Center in partnership with the Four Seasons Trail Association is sponsoring a Super Hero fun run & walk. There will be a prize for the best Super Hero costume as well as 1st, 2nd & 3rd place event prizes. Local Boy Scouts will offer a concession stand during the event. Free T-shirts to first 100 participants. Proceeds from the event will support the NMMC Operating Room renovation project.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Athletics and Cross Country teams will host their 37th Annual Spring Runoff 5K Road Race on Saturday, April 8, at 9:30 a.m., starting at Wieden. This event is open to the public and the cost is $15.00 U.S. or $20 Canadian for walkers/runners and $25 U.S. or $30 Canadian for 3-person relay teams. The University of Maine at Presque Isle, Gentile Hall
This timed, yet family-friendly 5K is an annual fundraiser for Hope & Justice Project and Homeless Services of Aroostook. Together, these organizations work to ensure safe homes for everyone in Aroostook County. Participants who pre-register online at www.safehomesaroostook.org before April 21st are guaranteed their specified t-shirt size. The registration fee is $20 per person. Children under 12 can participate for free and do not need to register unless they would like an event t-shirt. Registration and Pre-Registration Check-In will begin at 12PM on the day of the event. The 5K will begin at 1PM. Children's activities will be facilitated by UMPI Physical Education students for those who prefer not to run or walk. The top individual & team fundraisers and the fastest male & female runners will receive awards and all participants are eligible for door-prizes.

WGAC to display Color Presque Isle 5K photography during First Friday Art Walk

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine—The Wintergreen Arts Center (WGAC) and the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) are celebrating Color Presque Isle 5K race photography during the upcoming April 1st (2016) First Friday Downtown Art Walk with a special photo exhibit, Color Captured. The work of local photographers—Dave Allen Graphics, Lasting Moments Photography, Peter Freeman Photography, and Sha-Lam Photography—who captured the first three Color Presque Isle 5K races will be displayed at the Wintergreen Arts Center on State Street from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, April 1, 2016. Members of the public are also invited to bring in their race photos to be judged for a chance to win a free early registration for the 2016 race. Early registration for the 2016 Color Presque Isle 5K race will be available to everyone who visits the Wintergreen Arts Center during the April 1st First Friday Downtown Art Walk. The cost of early registration is $30.00, and the first 250 people to pre-register get free t-shirts at the August 27th event. People are invited to enter up to three photographs (measuring up to 8-inches by 10-inches each) to be judged for a chance to win a free early registration for the 2016 Color Presque Isle 5K race. Photos must be delivered to the Wintergreen Arts Center located at 149 State Street no later than Monday, March 28, 2016.
