A woman and two children die in overnight fire in Old Town

OLD TOWN, Maine - The State Fire Marshal's Office says a woman and two children died overnight in a fire at their home on Bradbury Street in Old Town.

The fire was discovered by neighbors just after 10 p.m. Firefighters entered the home and found the two children in an upstairs bedroom. They brought the boy and girl out of the house but resuscitation efforts were not successful. The woman's body was found in a first floor bedroom.

The bodies are being transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta for autopsies. Names are being withheld as family members are being notified.

A team of five Fire Marshal Investigators are on scene attempting to pinpoint the cause of the fire. Investigators say there were no signs of any working smoke detectors in the home.
