In the last 24 hours, multiple enforcement actions were adjudicated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officers in New England from the Boston Field Office, including the arrest of two subjects in possession of multiple illicit narcotics in Houlton.
“The hard work, dedication to the mission and vigilance of our CBP Officers resulted in these seizures and arrests across New England,” said Director of Field Operations William Ferrara. “Preventing the illegal importation of narcotics and apprehending those fleeing from the law are critical in protecting the public and keeping our communities safe.”
At the Port of Houlton, two 42-year old males, both U.S. citizens, were encountered by officers and referred for a secondary exam. The inspection, which included a K-9 search of the vehicle, led to the discovery of three bags containing 61.5 grams of heroin, 29 grams of cocaine, 29.5 grams of crack cocaine, trace amounts of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Law enforcement database checks revealed both subjects had extensive criminal records.
The contraband was seized, and both subjects were arrested and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation and prosecution.
