Cyr Plantation crash temporarily closes Route 1
Saturday morning, at about 10:00 a.m. the Aroostook County Sheriff's Office was called to a two vehicle crash on U.S. Route 1 in Cyr Plantation. Within just a few minutes of the call Deputy Sheriff Chad Foley was on the scene.

Deputy Foley determined that Brian Violette, 49, of Van Buren, was southbound in a 2000 Cadillac Escalade in Cyr Plantation and was slowing in traffic to make a left turn.

Behind Violette was Wayne Bouley, 42, of Madawaska, in a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. Bouley became distracted by activity inside his vehicle and failed to see Violette's vehicle slowing.

The two vehicles collided as both drivers took evasive measures, causing Violette's Escalade to roll over several times, coming to rest on the driver's side of the vehicle.

Violette, who was alone, was trapped and had to be rescued from the vehicle by Van Buren Fire Department. He was transported to Cary Medical Center (CMC) with non-life threatening injuries. Two adults and two children who were passengers in Bouley's pickup were also transported to CMC with non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles sustained serious damage. U.S. Route 1 was closed for a period of time.
