At approximately 5:00 p.m. this evening Emera Maine experienced a large scale outage in Aroostook County, lasting a little less than an hour and impacting an estimated 24,000 customers.
Crews, who spent considerable time patrolling lines, discovered a fallen tree against a transmission line feeding the region.
Meanwhile, system operators had re-routed circuits to restore a majority of customers by 7:00 p.m.
As of 9:00 p.m., there is still approximately 2,600 customers out in the Caribou area.
Crews expect to have these customers restored around 11:00 p.m.
Due to some technical issues, the Live Outage and Restoration map is currently displaying incorrect numbers.
Emera Maine will continue to provide updates as restoration progress continues.
