House Fire in Ashland is Under Investigation

At 12:12 this morning, the Ashland Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1298 Frenchville Road in Ashland. A driver passed by the house with his kids, who noticed the blaze. The driver turned around and kicked down the door to enter the home. Inside, he found and rescued the homeowners, Edwin and Nancy Charette, who were asleep and unaware of the fire.

The Ashland Fire Department received mutual aid from Mapleton and Masardas, and they were able to put out the fire with no injury. The home is not a total loss, and insurance will fix the damage caused.

"I'm happy that the driver stopped and got them out," said Ashland Fire Chief Don Bouley. Bouley is also grateful for the mutual aid he received in handling the situation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
