PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) The United States Drought Monitor was updated earlier this morning and shows improvements in Maine in northern Aroostook County due to recent precipitation.
34.1 inches of snow has fallen in Caribou so far this season. According to the National Weather Service, as of Wednesday afternoon, the resulting snowpack is equal to 2.7 inches of liquid (snow water equivalent). Precipitation is slightly above average for the month so far.
While Abnormally Dry conditions are no longer in place north of Presque Isle, the rest of Aroostook County is still reporting Abnormally Dry or Moderate to Severe Drought conditions.
