Man arrested for stealing company vehicle and cash from Advance Auto Parts

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine - On Friday, March 2nd, Advance Auto Parts store reported to the Fort Fairfield Police that one of their company vehicles was stolen around 11 a.m. Officer Ryan Eagles responded to the business and began an investigation.

The vehicle was located traveling on the interstate and intercepted by Maine State Police and Aroostook County Sheriffs Office. 50 year old Darren Daylight of Old Town was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

Further investigation revealed that Daylight took $2,000 in cash from inside of the vehicle and attempted to conceal it. Daylight was charged with unauthorized use of property and felony theft. Bail was set at $500 cash and was released over the weekend.

The Fort Fairfield Police Department is reminding the general public to remove their car keys when they are not driving and to keep valuables with them or out of the vehicle all together. They are also encouraging the public to call the police should they see anything suspicious in their neighborhoods.
