RICHMOND, Maine (AP) - Law enforcement officials have brought upgraded charges of manslaughter against a Richmond man in the deadly beating of his 76-year-old father.
Police originally arrested 54-year-old Kurt Linton on Feb. 9 for aggravated assault. Police upgraded the charges Friday, two days after Malcolm Linton died from his injuries.
Investigators said the elder Linton, a retired school teacher, was attacked inside his home, where both men lived. An autopsy concluded he died from complications following "blunt impact to the head."
Kurt Linton is being held at the Two Bridges Regional Jail. His lawyer, David Paris, didn't immediately return a call seeking comment on Wednesday.
