Meet and Greet Planned at Expanding Mapleton Child Care Center

In response to the need for quality child care in the Central Aroostook region, Putnam’s Playtime, LLC, has expanded from a Licensed Family Child Care Provider to a State Licensed Child Care Center.

This Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Putnam's Playtime will host a a formal meet and greet with all staff and the owner, Karen Putnam.

There will be light refreshments and an official ribbon cutting ceremony with the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce.

Owner Karen Putnam has operated as a licensed Family Child Care for 2 years. She believes that expanding her program will help meet the critical need in our communities.

Putnam worked diligently with multiple resources locally to bring her dream to fruition. Ken Stewart with Machias Savings was critical in helping bring this project to completion.

“Of all the obstacles that arose, he always had a good word and supportive way to help us continue to move forward,” said Putnam. “The meaningful care of our children is the foundation of our future. This new facility will help fill a huge need for County parents who are struggling to find trustworthy child care.”

Other partners in this process included New Ventures Maine North Region, Estey Water Wells in Mapleton, Underwood Electric in Presque Isle, Jewett Foundations in Mars Hill, Earth Works in Presque Isle, Coastline Homes in Ellsworth, Dead River in Presque Isle, Condon Signs in Mapleton, and Inlution in Presque Isle.

There are 26 slots available; 3 for infants aged 6 weeks thru 11 months; 7 for toddlers aged 1 through 4 years; 16 school aged 5 through 12 years. Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Although children will need to bring their meals, healthy snacks and drinks are provided. Comfy cots & bedding for sleeping, fun and educational games and learning activities, crafts, and singing are all part of a day at the center. Wide open indoor and outdoor spaces provide a safe environment for children to play. Diapers, wipes and formula need to be provided for infants. Weekly tuition for infants is $155. All other ages are $135. Deposits are required.
