Minor injuries sustained in Route 1 crash

This morning, troopers responded to Route 1 in Westfield for a report of a two vehicle crash.

64 year old Ramon Putnam of Cary Plantation was driving north and traveling in a long line of slow moving traffic that was following a plow truck that was treating the roadway.

34 year old Chris Coffin of Mars Hill was also northbound and caught up to the slow moving line of traffic and ran into the rear of Putnam’s vehicle, not realizing that traffic had slowed.

Coffin was transported via Crown ambulance for minor injuries. Putnam was not injured in the crash.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage in the crash and are considered a total loss.

Traffic on Route 1 was reduced to one lane for approximately an hour and a half while the crash was investigated and the roadway was cleared.
