Miramichi, N.B. (WAGM) - The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say a 26-year-old Miramichi man has changed his plea to guilty to failing to comply with conditions that he not communicate with persons under the age of 16.

Timothy Robichaud appeared in Miramichi Provincial Court on April 19, 2017, and changed his plea to guilty to two charges: failure to comply with a prohibition order and failure to comply with a probation order.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the RCMP in New Brunswick's Internet Child Exploitation unit, launched after receiving a complaint in February of this year, from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, that the man was breaching his conditions by communicating with a youth from the United States.

Robichaud is in custody until his sentencing hearing on May 24 in Miramichi Provincial Court.
