Single truck crash in Monticello

On Monday, February 5, at approximately 3:45am, the State Police responded to an overturned truck on US Highway 1 in Monticello. Brian Little of Houlton was driving a 2009 Sterling box truck owned by Houlton Farms Dairy north on US Highway 1. The truck started to slide to the right due to slush and ice on the roadway. The truck slid into the break-down lane, into the snow bank on the side of the road, and rolled onto its left side.

The truck was loaded with dairy products at the time of the crash. Brian was able to remove himself from the vehicle and was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital for non-serious injuries. Both north and south bound lanes of US Highway 1 were blocked for approximately 45 minutes while the truck was turned over. The Maine Department of Environmental Protection responded to the scene due to hazardous fluids leaking from the truck. Maine Department of Transportation assisted with stopping traffic while the truck was removed.
