New state laws taking effect on Janurary 1st, 2017

AUGUSTA, Me.- Several new Maine laws will become effective on Sunday, including one that limits the opioid dosage doctors can prescribe.

Beginning Sunday the maximum dose for many patients will be set at 100 morphine milligram equivalents a day. Other new laws taking effect include a 50 percent price hike for season passes to Maine's park system and the use of new standards for achieving a high school diploma.
