Safety on all-terrain vehicle trails is a concern for the Saint-Léonard detachment of the West District RCMP resulting in police officers conducting several patrols during the month of September.
During the enforcement initiative, police arrested one person for driving while prohibited. Another individual was given a roadside suspension for driving an all-terrain vehicle while impaired.
The traffic enforcement was conducted in the areas of Saint-Leonard, Saint Andre, Notre-Dame-de-la-Lourde and Drummond Local Service District resulting in the issuing of several tickets.
Violations included: failing to wear a helmet, ATV not being registered and failing to have insurance for an off-road vehicle.
Saint-Léonard RCMP conducted the patrols in partnership with the New Brunswick Department of Public Safety Off-road vehicle enforcement unit.
West District RCMP will continue to do random checks of all-terrain vehicle trails to ensure safety along the trails.
