Taste of the County: Fun Candy

Looking for a fun activity to do with the kids this holiday season? Cary Medical Center Pastry Chef Rebecca Keenan has an idea that's sure to make memories. Here's this weeks Taste of the County.

Directions:

Take pre-made jolly rancher candies and crush them down. Then put them in tin foil. Bake the candy in the oven so it melts down. When it comes out it's going to look like an agate rock. Take jolly ranchers, and separate them out by the color. Put them in a zip lock bag, zip it up and with a crush them up with a mallet. You either want to use heavy duty tin foil or you want to spray it with a little bit of pan spray so it doesn't stick when you go to take it out. Set your oven to 250 degrees. It should take around 5 minutes. Really keep an eye on it because if you overcook it, it will start bubbling and so all of your colors combine and so you're not going to have any kind of
design. After these come out of the oven, put them in the fridge and let them cool completely, then you're just going to gently pull the foil away from it.
