Two Arrested on Arson Charges Including a Town Selectman

Perry, ME - Two men in the town of Perry have been put under arrest for arson in connection with an April 26, 2014 fire.

35 year old Perry Town Selectman Scott MacNichol was charged with two counts of arson, while 36 year old Jeffrey Morrison also of Perry was charged with Perjury, two counts of Arson, and Insurance Fraud.

According to Fire Marshal Investigator, Jeremy Damren, the investigation began following a fire that destroyed a vacant single family home belonging to Morrison on Lake Road in Perry. According to Damren the house was burned to collect insurance proceeds. The case was presented recently to Washington County District Attorney, Matt Foster, who approved the charges and the both men were arrested and taken to Washington County Jail. Both are now free after posting bail.

Fire Marshals were assisted during the 18 month investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and State Police.
