Turnpike wreck causes traffic delays downstate

Traffic on the southern end of the Maine Turnpike was blocked early this morning after a tractor trailer swerved attempting to avoid a car that had spun out.

The big rig crashed into the median guardrail and ended up in the northbound lanes in Kittery under an overpass.

The crash slowed traffic to a crawl, but the scene is now clear.

Police say a car, traveling too fast for conditions, skidded in the southbound lane in front of the truck.

The truck did collide with the car as the truck driver attempted to avoid the collision.

The crash was at mile 1.5 in Kittery .

Police say no one was injured.
