Two vehicles involved in horse collision on Route 1

Last night, the Maine State Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a horse in Littleton.

An investigation revealed two separate vehicles struck the horse.

68 year old Brian McDougal of New Sweden was driving his vehicle when a horse ran into the roadway and struck the passenger side of his vehicle causing damage.

Shortly after McDougal struck the horse, a 1986 Peterbilt trailer truck driven by 35 year old Geary Bonville of Presque Isle struck the horse causing damage.

Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

The owner of the horse had it dispatched by a neighbor due the injuries it sustained.

Trooper Nick Casavant is the primary investigator and was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Josh Haines as well as Houlton Police Department.
