Woman headed to hospital to deliver baby killed in car accident

A 27 year old woman en route to a Skowhegan hospital to have a baby died this morning after her SUV hit black ice on Route 2 and rolled over.

Doctors performed an emergency c-section on the woman and her infant is listed in critical condition, according to Skowhegan police.

Police say man and an 8-year-old child were also in the vehicle. They were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The woman was nine months pregnant and was on her way to the hospital to be induced.

The crash happened around 7 a.m.

Police say the vehicle hit black ice, causing the woman to lose control.
