Fort Kent's Austin Theriault is in Kansas preparing for the final ARCA race of the season tomorrow night. Theriault is all but guaranteed the points Championship. He has a 400 point lead heading into Kansas.Earlier this week I had the opportunity to Skype with Theriault and to get pictures of the Ken Schader Racing shop. He says the team is looking forward to another successful race.
Austin Theriault:"We have accomplished so much in a short amount of time. This whole deal came about in December and January of 2017."
The team is not resting on it's success. Earlier this week they were in the shop until 2 am making changes to the Kansas car.
Theriault:"We are always trying to get better. I know we won the Kentucky race which is a mile and a half race track, but we feel that is an area that we can continue to work on. Since we are ahead in the points and we feel we have a little bit of a cushion heading into Kansas we can try a little bit more with the set up."
Even with the end of the regular season Ken Scrader Racing is still a very busy place. In most of the shop the crew is putting cars together and in another part of the building is part of the Ken Scrader racing history with several of his old race cars parked in the shop.
The Fort Kent native has had an unbelievable season on the ARCA Series. He has finished in the top 10 in all 19 races, finished in the top five 16 times and visited victory lane seven times this year.
Theriault:" Looking back at the past five or ten years of ARCA. There's been some great years and people have won a lot of races, but I feel our season this year with one race left is a great one also. We have been top ten all of the races and that meant a lot for us. That has got us in the position to be in contention for the championship. We will see what happens and when we start the engines in Kansas I think there will be a lot of happy people."
