Belskis wins New England coaching award

ASHLAND, Me (WAGM) - Peter Belskis has been named the Small School New England Soccer coach of the year. His team wrapped up a third straight undefeated regular season and captured a second state title in three years. Belskis was one of five nominees from five states who were up for the New England award. Belskis was picked as the New England award winner in a vote by the Soccer Coaches Association from the five states. Belskis is now one of 11 finalists from throughout the Country who are now in the running for the National award which will be announced later this week. The coach of the year awards will be presented in Los Angeles in January 14th. Belskis has coached for 37 years, 26 with the Ashland boys and 11 with the girls. Belskis has won two State Championships with the girls and one with the boys. He has also won nine regional Championships during his career.
