The University of Maine Fort Kent Women's team looking for it's fifth straight National Championships. There have been some changes, they lost some players and also have a new coach. Larry Simpson took over midway through the season. Simpson took over for Lucas Levesque who accepted a new job in Rome Georgia. Everyone involved with the team says that the team did a great job overcoming the adversity of meeting a new coach during the season.

(Bill Ashby):"Lucas stayed a couple of weeks with us and Larry came in early and they were able to connect with each other and the team. It was a great transition. You couldn't ask for a better transition."

(Larry Simpson):" I am very proud the girls were open. Let's face it they had a coach in the past in Lucas who took them to the end got them to where they needed to be. So now they had to put their faith in a new coach."

(Catherine Bruno):" It was pretty hard especially for the Seniors changing coaches is not an easy thing. It was hard for us that we had a new coach and new players so we had to adjust ourself too. We did pretty well the new girls like him and I love him.

The Bengals head into the USCAA tournament as the number one seed. They know they have a target on their back, but they want to keep the legacy going.

(Kendra Freund):" I think a lot of it is our pride. We don't want to give it up. It is about a legacy too. We want all the new girls coming in to be able to continue it and we want to leave on a high note."

(Gabriella Riccardi Shortt) It's nostalgic coming back we won it last year so to come back here is a bit nerve wracking because there is a lot of pressure, but also it pumps you up at the same time."

Simpson:"I think any coach if if you had never won at all you would want to win the whole thing. There is a little bit of added expectation of a team that has won it several times in a row. You want to carry it on.

Bruno:"I think this year the team got closer we are a very young team and we really love each other. We love to play with each other. It is really interesting we are from all around the world and got connected that way.

Of course it all begins on Thursday and they hope to be in the Championship on Monday.
