CARIBOU, Me (WAGM) - The Bob White baseball fields will be a busy place this weekend. The annual State Farm Little League tournament is being played beginning on Saturday. Rene Cloukey has a tournament preview.

(Gary Marquis):"We got 14 teams coming for our annual State Farm tournament. Out of the 14 nine of them are coming from downstate. We have one coming from Bar Harbor over Newport and the Brewer area. They are all coming here and staying in our hotels and eating at restaurants gassing up their cars. It is going to be a busy weekend for Caribou.

Saturday will be the round robin portion of the tournament with two pools and then Sunday single elimination will determine the winner. The tournament has grown over the years and Marquis attributes the hospitality as the reason that so many downstate teams attend the event.

Marquis:"We run a great tournament. We have got two great fields here. They have been worked on and massaged for years and years. We really have a nice area for baseball. i think we put on a good show and the word of mouth has spread throughout the State and they are now coming."

Games begin Saturday morning and who knows you might see more hits like this one and more great reactions from the players. I'm Rene Cloukey News Source Sports
