County athletes are competing at the State Singles Tennis Championship

- County athletes are competing at the State Singles Tennis Championship. The State Singles Tennis Championship are being played at the indoor courts in Portland due to the rain. Gabrielle Marquis of Caribou has advanced to the sweet 16. She won her match Friday and will play Saturday at the Colby College Courts in Waterville. Ashley Matlock also of Caribou has advanced to the Sweet 16 after her win Friday. Matlock will also play Saturday.

On the boys side Parker Deprey of Caribou advanced to the sweet 16. Andre Daigle of Presque Isle won a preliminary match, but fell in the round of 32. His scores were 2 to 6 and 3 to 6. He won't be advancing.

Kelly Nicklaus of Caribou and Sarah Morneault of Presque Isle both lost their matches. For the boys Alec Cyr of Caribou and Travis Lebel of Van Buren also lost Friday.
