FORT KENT, Me. (WAGM)- The Fort Kent Outdoor Center will be a very busy place in mid December. The New England Nordic Ski Association will have the first Eastern Cup races of the season in Fort Kent on December 16th and 17th.
The venue has hosted several events over the years including High School races, but this event will be the largest ever held at the venue. NENSA races in the past have had hundreds of participants and organizers are hopeful that this year's opening race in the series will draw people from throughout New England. The race is one of four in a series of events to help select the New England team for the Junior Olympics. There are four points races for 14-23 year olds. This one in Fort Kent and in January and early February events in Middlebury and Stowe Vermont and Hanover New Hampshire. This is the first time that Fort Kent will host the NENSA race and organizers are being proactive they are making snow in conjunction with Lonesome Pine Ski area just in case Mother Nature does not cooperate. We will have much more on the event next week .
