The Hodgdon girls basketball team heads into Christmas with a winning record. Second year coach Wendell Harvey says the team has been focused and working very hard.
(Wendel Harvey):"It feels really good the girls have been working really hard in practice and they had a good game at Shead. It was a really big win for us and then we beat Katahdin and lost to a really good Woodland team at home but competed very happy."

The Hawks will mix it up defensively and try to keep teams off balance

Harvey:"We play some zone and some man to man and just trying to adjust to who we are playing and do the best job we can and make good basketball plays.

(Sydney Howell):" We pass really well and that helps and we just get a good momentum going."

The Hawks have a mix of veterans and newcomers. They have five seniors and five freshman on the team.Janelle Goff and Sydney Howell are both hoping to end their careers with playoff games.

(Janelle Goff):"We are looking for a playoff game either home or away. We just want a playoff game after a rough couple of years. Winning the first game by one and having a winning record right now. We are looking for a playoff game."

(Sydney Howell):"We are looking to improve from last year and hopefully get that playoff game. We will keep working all season."

Harvey says the team has a tough schedule, but one that could help get them ready fo the playoffs.

Harvey:"We are trying to compete in every game. We have a tough schedule. We play Houlton and SAHS who are the favorites in their division so they will be tough, but hopeufully we can compete with everyone else.:
