Hornets capture second state title in three years in double overtime thriller

PORTLAND, Me (WAGM) - From over the weekend, the Ashland girls soccer team taking on Richmond for the third straight year in the Class D state championship.

We pick it up in the second half with the Bobcats up 1-0.
off the free kick the ball bounces around in the Richmond box. Willow Hall, an 8th grader, buries the Mackenzie Carter pass to tie things up at one.
We go to double overtime, on the Ashland corner, a perfect ball by Morgan Doughty headed home by the sweeper Cassidy Pelletier...
The final score is Ashland 2, Richmond 1 in double over time. Ashland is champland once again, the Hornets win their second title in three years.

What's it feel like for you guys?
"It feels amazing, I love this feeling. It's the best feeling in the world," said junior Morgan Doughty.

What was the difference today for you guys?
"Well we lost a player in the second half I believe, which it made us all have to step up. We all stepped it up today we played a great game and I couldn't be more happy with my team," Doughty added.
