The second week of the moose hunting season begins on Monday. Once again 660 hunters and their sub permittees will be looking for moose in Wildlife Management Districts 1 through 6.
Wildlife biologist will also be doing some research during the hunt.

Kantar says that is just one research project on moose. He said that in two different Wildlife Management Districts they are monitoring collared moose.

Kantar:"This is our fifth year in our Western unit working on the moose project. It is going to be our third year in district two. We will be catching moose again this winter up there in district two as well as the Western study area. We will follow them through the next few years to see what survival rates look like. It also gives us a pretty good idea of the impact of winter ticks over time."
