PRESQUE ISLE, Me (WAGM) - University of Maine Presque Isle softball player Sara Packard continues to be honored with awards. The sophomore pitcher/infielder has been player of the week twice for the Association of Division III independents and once for the USCAA. Recently Packard was awarded the AD3I student athlete of the month. Packard has enjoyed the individual success, but still puts the team first.

"I really give most of the success to my teammates, without them I wouldn't be the player that I am. We push each other in practice and push each other in the off-season and that's what makes us be a better a team," Packard said.

Packard has seen major improvements on the field because of her dedication to the game she loves.

"Sarah is a worker. You are never going to have to question if she's going to come ready to play. It's exciting to have a player like that, that can lead your team. She's very easy to coach because she always wants to improve and she does a fantastic job for us," said UMPI softball coach Sara Shaw.
