This is the first year that the Maine Principals Association is using a pitch count to determine how many days a pitcher has to rest before pitching in another game. Mike Burnham says new system seems to be working well.
Mike Burnham:"What i am see here is that schools are doing an outstanding job monitoring pitch counts. Coaches are paying attention to the number of pitches an athlete is throwing and we have not seen a significant change. I think it has worked very well the positive feedback we have received. I think it is important to note that coaches by and large were tracking pitch counts before this year and now it is just mandated.
