HOULTON, Maine (WAGM) - Three County teams will be playing for Northern Regional baseball and softball titles this week. The SAHS softball team stopped Ashland, Fort Fairfield baseball stopped Katahdin and Houlton picked up a win over George Stevens Academy. We will have stories with all the teams this week. The Shiretowners have used two great pitching performances in the playoffs to make it this far. Rene Cloukey has the story.

Jim Castner:" We are very happy great pitching perfomances by Pat Howe and Nick Perfitt. Good defense behind us."

The Shires opponent on Tuesday will be Mattanawcook. The teams split on the regular season

Castner:" Mattanawcook is a good team they have some very good hitting. We have to execute well it will be a good challenge."

Houlton has relied on strong arms and some timely hitting all season long and Castner hopes that continues in the next game.

Castner:" That is baseball good timely hitting and good pitching. I think we can deliver, but MA has a good chance of delivering too. I like our chances."
