The County will be hosting two state ski meets next February. The Class B alpine meet will be held at Big Rock and the Class B and C Nordic Championships will be held at the Fort Kent Outdoor Center. MPA Representatives spent some time in the County recently meeting with Bigrock officials about the Alpine event
(Mike Bisson):" We met with them for about 2 hours and got the plan in place. We worked out the logistics with the facility. They are excited to host it. We will be there on Monday and Tuesday of vacation week. We are sure things will go really smoothly."
The Alpine Championships will be held on February 18th and 19th with State Championships awarded in both Slalom and Giant Slalom and an overall alpine championship. The Nordic Skiers will then take center stage in Fort Kent on the 20th and 21st.
Bisson:" On Wednesday and Thursday we will have the Nordic events in Fort Kent. We have not got up there yet, but we plan on doing that."
For the second straight year both the Class B and C Nordic championships are being held at the same venue. This gives more of a festival feel and awards will be handed out in two different classes.
Bisson:"Class B and C will be together, but we will separate their results between the two classes."
