FORT KENT, Me (WAGM) - The University of Maine Fort Kent will have two national affiliations beginning next year.

The NAIA has approved UMFK's membership into the group. The Bengals are one of seven institutions to be granted membership into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. UMFK will also continue it's affiliation with the USCAA.

UMFK will add the sports of men's tennis and men's and women's track and field for the spring season in 2018, bringing their athletic department to eight total sports. The Bengals were also granted a "returning member" exception, so that all sports will be eligible for postseason play immediately.
