Fort Kent, Me (WAGM) - The University of Maine Fort Kent new women's basketball coach Daniel Johnson is already on campus and already beating the pavement looking for new recruits.

Johnson:" I have already hit the pavement. I have e mail every local Athletic Director and all my prior contacts who have not committed anywhere."

The Bengals were a final four USCAA team this past season and ended the year with a 20-6 record, but lost the majority of the team to graduation.Johnson knows he has his work cut out for him as he starts the recruiting process late in the year

Johnston:" It's a challenge, but on the other hand the incoming freshman and people that I recruit will be able to put their stamp on the program."

Johnson spent last year as an Assistant at Malone in Ohio and has also coached at other levels of basketball

Johnson:"I coached High School basketball in Florida until 2013 coached at regional campus of Kent State University and then another Christian College in Minnesota."

Johnson says he is looking forward to taking the court and working with his recruits as he puts his signature on Bengal basketball

Johnson:"They have had prior success for years and I am just trying to build on that and put my own stamp onto that. I am going to do a very up tempo I call it push and plug. The point guard pushes up and if there isn't an easy basket and if we don't have it pull it out set it up and make our basket and press."
