Van Buren boys look to the future

The Van Buren boys basketball team is extremely young, They have a starter from each grade level from eighth grade to senior.

<(Steve Lapierre):"We are a young team. Every game we have seen improvement and I guess that is what you look for with a young team. We have three eighth graders on the team. We start an eighth grader, freshman, sophomore, junior and senior. We are really young and taking our lumps, but the kids are working hard."

Brandon Sytulek is the only senior on the team and he says that everyone is working hard to improve

(Brandon Sytulek):"We started out pretty young not really knowing the plays. We are building up getting stronger and hopefully we will continue doing better."

(Luke Perrault):"Our team work has been better. We have been passing the ball a little bit better. I feel we are moving the ball better and less turnovers."

Sophomore Luke Perrault has been the teams leading scorer this year. Perrault knows that the team is focused on the future and looking to continue make a playoff run down the road.

Perrault:" My overall thoughts. We are young we won't be a playoff team. Since we are young we want to focus on the year coming up. When we have a group of Juniors and Seniors I think we can make a run at the playoffs."

Lapierre:" I think there is a good Jr High bunch coming up. These kids right now are really in the learning stages and every game we are getting better. The numbers are limited because we are a small school and we are working on getting those numbers up a little bit."
