Black ice and speed may be to blame for a fatal car crash this morning in New Sweden.
According to State Police, 43 year-old Kori Ellis of Mapleton was northbound on Route 161 in New Sweden when her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee left the road and struck a tree at about eight fifteen this morning.
Ellis had just completed passing a north bound vehicle when her vehicle lost control as she entered back into her driving lane. Her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
Ellis was pronounced dead at the scene. Caribou fire and ambulance also responded to the accident. (WAGM)
