Why do I need a user account?
Certain features of this Web site are optional and / or customized to your specifications. Some features, such as the news poll and some contests, are limited to one response per person. In order to record your settings, properly manage Web site features and ensure you receive the information you want, we need to be able to identify you and certain contact information for you; your user account allows us to do that.
Why do you need my e-mail address?
In order to ensure you provide us with unique information specific to you, and in order to deliver e-mail alerts and other communication you request, we use your e-mail address as your login ID.
How do you use my e-mail address and / or other personal information? Do you sell it or give it away?
Your e-mail address is used only to provide you with the information and services you request from this Web site. We also use your information to help us track how features of this Web site are used. I don't want to provide you with my e-mail address. Can I still have a user account?
Because many of our Web site's features are tied to users providing valid e-mail addresses, all user accounts must be tied to an e-mail address.
How do I get a user account?
User registration is open to anyone. Simply fill out the new user account form.
I cannot create a user account or I am receiving error messages when I try to create an account. Why?
There are a number of reasons why you may have trouble creating a user account. You may provide an e-mail address someone else has used. You may be improperly entering your e-mail address or not providing the same e-mail address in the confirmation box. You may be entering an invalid password (passwords must be 6-20 characters, numbers and letters only). If you continue to have problems creating an account, please contact us and we'll assist you.
I was able to create a login account, but I cannot log in. Why?
You may be entering an incorrect user name or password. Or you may have been locked out from logging in; our Web site will prevent you from logging in if you enter the wrong user name and password combination too many times. And sometimes, computers -- including our Web server -- are fussy and don't want to work properly. If you continue to have difficulty logging in after several tries, contact us and we can help you.
What does the "Remember Me" checkbox on the login page do?
The "Remember Me" checkbox will store your login information for up to 14 days, limiting the number of times you need to enter your user credentials on our site. If you use a shared computer, you should ensure this box is checked off when logging in.
I've forgotten the e-mail address I used to register for this site. What can I do?
We can't recover lost e-mail addresses. If you've forgotten the e-mail address you used for this site, please create a new account with your new e-mail address.
I've forgotten my password. What can I do?
Use the forgotten password form to have your password e-mailed to you.
I need to change the password for my account. How?

What are e-mail and SMS alerts?
We occasionally post urgent news, weather or other updates on this site. If you'd like to be informed when we do so, you can sign up for a news or weather alert to be delivered by e-mail or by text message.
Are alerts free?
We do not charge for SMS or e-mail alerts. However, your cell phone provider may charge you for text messages received from us. Check with your provider.
How do I opt in or opt out of e-mail / SMS alerts?
Sign in to the Web site and visit the Your Profile page to opt in or out of alerts.
