Getting kids interested in insurance

Getting young people interested in the insurance biz. That was the goal of MMG Insurance as they met with a select group of high school students from three local communities. NewsSource 8's Katie Zarrilli tells us about the event they put on and tells us what a few students learned about the insurance industry.

Gov. LePage closing out second term

Governor Paul LePage is a little more than half a year away from finishing his term as Maine's governor. LePage has been in office since January of 2011. He was first elected in November of 2010 and was re-elected in 2014. We spoke with LePage via Skype earlier this spring and he listed a few tasks he hopes to accomplish in his remaining months, including getting a bill passed that would allow more seniors to stay in their homes. Though he wishes he could accomplish more before he leaves office, LePage says it's time to pass the torch.

Red Cross honors local heroes

Several local heroes were honored at the 20th Annual Real Heroes Breakfast. According to Mary Green, the Community Manager of the Aroostook County American Red Cross, this was the biggest breakfast ever, with more than 300 people attending the event. 10 heroes were honored and 5 service awards were handed out.

ACAP hosts LGBT support training

Training sessions were held at Northern Maine Community College Friday, with attendees learning ways to support LGBT youth in their communities.
