Fort Fairfield, Maine (WAGM) - The closure of the United States and Canadian border is affecting Americans who want to golf at Aroostook Valley Country Club.

Aroostook Valley is a very unique course with the pro shop in Maine and the clubhouse and course in New Brunswick. Since opening for the year back in May Americans were able to access the course through Fort Fairfield, but last night the New Brunswick and Canadian governments notified AVCC that American Members and guests cannot legally be on property in Canada during COVID-19 and the border closure. Club Pro Stephen Leitch has been spending time on the phone trying to work on a solution.

Leitch also says several courses in the State of Maine have reached out and offered to allow AVCC Members to play a round of golf at their course.
