Single vehicle crash in Blaine over the weekend

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - On Sunday, August 2, 2020 at approximately 9:50PM, the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle crash on the East Blaine Road in Blaine.

Upon arrival on scene, Deputy Sheriff Michael DeLena determined that Zachary Crouch (20)of Mars Hill was traveling southbound on the East Blaine Road in his 2018 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup truck when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the roadway and rolled over several times before coming to rest in a field.

Crouch and a 17 year old passenger were injured in the crash and transported by ambulance to AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle with extensive but non-life threatening injuries. The occupants were later transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for further treatment.

The investigation into the cause of this crash is ongoing but preliminary investigation revealed that speed and alcohol are likely contributing factors. Neither occupant were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.

The crash is being reconstructed by an officer from the Presque Isle Police Department.

Deputy Sheriff DeLena was also assisted on scene by the Central Aroostook Ambulance Service, U.S. Border Patrol, Presque Isle Fire Department and the Mars Hill Fire Department.
