HOULTON, Maine (WAGM) - Houlton Police are asking people be on high alert around their home, vehicles, and belongings.

In a press release last week, Houlton Police reported a string of burglaries in the town.

“More specific, residential and motor vehicle burglaries.”

HPD says they are actively working all cases and gathering information, as well as heavily patrolling specific areas in town.

Houlton Police say, “The best form of defense is community awareness and taking preventative measures. High alert means making sure you lock your vehicles and take your valuables inside. Lock the doors to your residence. Many individuals have taken it upon themselves to install security cameras. All of these steps can help protect you as individuals and assist law enforcement in the gathering of information.”

The department says they do not want to create fear or panic by this message, but we do want to make sure you are all aware so that we can work together to keep the community safe.

“If you see suspicious activity, please give the police department a call or send us a message. We will continue to move forward and will apprehend those who have committed such crimes.”
