PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - Throughout the COVID 19 pandemic, one local animal care facility has been stepping up to help families and their pets through the difficult times.

Halfway Home Pet Rescue in Caribou has teamed up with the Maine Community Foundation and the Elmina Sewall Foundation to donate cat food, dog food, and cat litter to a few locations throughout the county including the Caribou Police Department, Fort Fairfield police department. Norma Milton, president of Halfway home pet rescue, says that these donations have been a tremendous help to residents all throughout Aroostook County.

”It’s allowing the people to keep their pets. Otherwise they would be forced, because they can’t afford the food and supplies, they would be forced to turn them into a humane shelter. In a roundabout way, much like a wheel, it helps everybody.”

Milton adds that if you or someone you know is in need of pet food, supplies are still available.

Locations include:

Caribou Police Department

Fort Fairfield Police Department

Aroostook Area Agency on Aging - Meals on Wheels Program in Presque Isle.
