PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - It may not have been the usual 9 day event, but the town of island falls did hold a one day summerfest.

Tractor pulls, a duck race, and an apron sale were some of the events that took place over the weekend. Ruth Frazier is the rec director for Island falls and says that while they didn’t have as many events as prior years due to the pandemic, it was important to the community to have some sort of celebration.

“I think a lot of it has to do with so many people have been in for so long not having things to do lot of people are talking about depression being home depressed not seeing anybody that kind of stuff. But we just figured that it would give some people to get out to maybe socialize a little bit with the requirements”

Frazier says they’re planning to hold the summerfest again next year. She says it was great to see all of the people who came out to celebrate.
