Fire on Grain Field in Fort Fairfield

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) - A fire in Fort Fairfield this afternoon.

The Fort Fairfield Fire Department responded to the fire on West Limestone Road.

The Maine State Forest Rangers, Easton Fire, Limestone Fire, and Caribou Fire Departments were also on scene to assist.

According to Deputy Chief Timothy Browning, the fire took place on a grain field and estimates that approximately 40 acres of land had burned.

Crews were able to extinguish the flames before they spread too far.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but is not suspicious. There were no injuries reported and no structures or equipment was reported damaged.
