PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) -Orion Ouellette is a life scout with Troop 171 and contacted Scott Thompson, park manager of Aroostook State Park to fix the QuaQuajo Nature Trail for his eagle scout project. He says he wanted to do this project because he wanted to do something outside. Ouellette explains some of what he did to get the trail back in shape.

“First thing we did on the project was we took rakes and shovels and cleared the path and side by sides with gravel we laid down the gravel and compacted the gravel,” he said.

“Our whole idea was to resurrect it utilize some our ski trail which we’ve done some improvements to over the years. It’s a better walking area it’s a half a mile from one ending or start to the end it’s a lot safer trail for those that really shouldn’t be up on the mountain,” said Scott Thompson, park manager of Aroostook State Park.

Thompson adds that the trail is open to the public and he couldn’t be more proud of Orion.
