LIMESTONE, Maine (WAGM) -

Limestone Country Club has been under new ownership for over a month now.

The new owner isn’t letting COVID-19 stop him from creating new avenues for business.

(Brad Boyles): “So oddly enough since we took ownership of the property here and limestone country club, we’ve been trying to figure out ways to create more business. This is actually our first year with cornhole. We thought it’d be good year with 10 or 14 teams but ended up with 24 teams this year of 2 so it’s a pretty good start.”

Brad Boyles became the owner of Limestone Country Club in mid-July. The idea of hosting a corn-hole league came together by the end of the month.

(BB): “So the season began at the beginning of August, actually the end of July and it’s going to run for 9 straight weeks. On week 9 it’ll be a playoff which would be straight tournament style bracket system. The top 12 teams will all play against each other in a single game elimination tournament style finish.”

The league plays at 5:30 on Monday nights. Each team of two plays best out of 3 against 3 other teams. Should things go to a rubber match a team has the potential of playing 9 games in a single night.

(BB): “We make sure every team gets to play each other once. Some teams are here just for fun, other teams are here to take home the gold. It’s just a random draw every single night. We just make sure every team gets to play everybody the entire season that way there is a least one matchup with everybody.

Cornhole has been a big success so far at Limestone Country Club. People are already asking for more opportunities to play.

(BB): “We have people traveling from Westfield in one direction and Van Buren in the other direction and everyone seems to want something to happen in the fall time too. So moer of a competitive league in the fall time. A couples league maybe. Everyone seems to want to have two or 3 leagues next summer. So I think we’re heading in the right direction to create this program ot be a little bit bigger here at the Country Club.
