ST. JOHN VALLEY, Maine (WAGM) - A letter was sent out to family members of the Madawaska School District stating the employee is currently in isolation at home and will only be allowed to return to work once they are cleared by CDC guidelines and a physician.

The employee’s information is not being disclosed due to HIPPA laws.

Because of how early in the school year this was detected, the employee had yet to go on school grounds or show up for work.

According to Superintendent Ben Sirois, the school district immediately activated contact tracing to see if anyone in the school community had come into contact with the employee.

The school let parents know that if it turns out their child has been in contact with the employee, they will be notified immediately.

The Valley Unified Education Center says they are taking all necessary steps to avoid additional cases or a spread of COVID-19.
