Over 300 youngsters sign up for youth soccer
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) -
While schools are allowed to start fall sports including soccer on Monday. Some recreation departments have already started their youth soccer programs.That includes Presque Isle where over 300 youngsters are taking part this fall.
Perry:" Soccer has exceeded all of our expectations above and beyond anything we thought we were going to have for numbers. It is a testament to how badly parents and kids want to be out and be involved and being engaged and being active."
This Saturday some of the members of the Northern Maine Community Recreation Department Association will take part in travel games at other recreation departments. The first event will be Saturday with four teams taking part.Safety protocols will be in place. This is just the first round robin and there will be others before the County Championship is played.
Perry:" With the Northern Maine Recreation Association and we decided we wanted to move forward with some travel games. Currently we have a few other communities that are interested in joining us. This Saturday we will be playing games in Presque Isle hosting Easton and Madawaska St Agatha combined team right now.
